About Us

Count Balom, Founder and CEO
“My great grandmother believed, it does not matter whether you are a doctor or a waste collector; but as long as you are doing something positive, taking care of your responsibilities, and doing what was right, you are successful.”
Founded to support young men who live without guidance, understanding and the teaching of a positive father figure.
Men Saving Our Community is a non-profit organization founded in 2012 to change the negative effects of absent fathers in the Black community. Children face a higher risk of physical, economic, and emotional well-beings as result of living without the presence of an involved, responsible, and committed father figure.
Mission
Men Saving Our Community (MSOC) is dedicated to providing young Black Males, ages 5-18, with a positive male mentor, who can assist them with their growth and life skill development. This mentor can provide guidance throughout the formative years and assist in helping lead the young male into adulthood.
Young men with a strong male mentor in their life will be more likely to make positive life choices and avoid the negative outcomes from peer pressure and substance temptation. Many of these relationships will continue into adulthood as the young men enter college, the military, careers, and build families. The social ties from these mentor relationships will improve lives and families, and eventually build stronger communities.
